Hi, I'm Daniel Gosling
I've spent 21 years in professional theatre, live production and music education in Melbourne — I registered my company, Gosling Productions, back in 2005, and I've been in the roof, at the desk, on the headset, and in the classroom ever since. EasyStagecraft is everything I wish I'd had when I started: the tools, the language, and the know-how to run a school production properly and safely.
Why I built this
Generic event and project tools were never built for the way a school production actually runs — one teacher leading a 60-strong student crew, parent volunteers, term-bound timelines, principal sign-offs, and a duty of care that's non-negotiable. I kept rebuilding the same spreadsheets, risk assessments and run sheets show after show. So I built the tools properly, once — stage planning, inventory, scheduling and theatre-specific OHS — and wrapped a course around them so the next teacher doesn't have to learn it all the hard way.
Built by someone who's done the job
Every part of the Suite comes from real production experience, not a product spec. EasyRisk uses the vocabulary and standards an Australian WorkSafe inspector recognises. EasyOrchestra places instruments to scale because I've had to mark out a pit at 7am. EasyInventory tracks the gear the way a stores room actually works. And the course teaches the things that genuinely go wrong on a show — and how to stay calm and safe when they do.
Who it's for
Teachers and production staff running school and community shows — the people doing five jobs at once with a duty of care they can't drop. Whether you've picked up a single tool, the whole Suite, or the course, you're getting 21 years of backstage experience built into software that does the heavy lifting for you.
Want the full background? I'm always happy to talk through the tools, the course, or a school pilot.
